Malaysia & Philippines Turn to SINOTRUK Electric Trucks for Last-Mile Delivery

SHARE TO :

Malaysia’s Westports and Port of Tanjung Pelepas together ordered 260 SINOTRUK HOWO TX 6×4 electric tractors in 2025 — the largest single-year electric truck procurement in Malaysian history.

In the Philippines, International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) and Fast Logistics deployed 180 Shacman and SINOTRUK units for Manila–Cavite and Manila–Batangas routes. Lazada and Shopee Philippines now use 120 electric trucks for Metro Manila last-mile, cutting delivery emissions by 92% versus diesel.

Malaysia’s NETR (National Energy Transition Roadmap) offers investment tax allowances of up to 100% for electric commercial vehicles. The Philippines’ EVIDA law grants franchise priority and income tax holidays.

Both countries benefit from Chinese battery-swap ecosystems: SINOTRUK opened Southeast Asia’s first heavy-truck battery-swap station in Port Klang in July 2025, enabling a 5-minute full “refuel”.

Zambia’s Copper Belt Revolution: 500+ Chinese Electric Mining Trucks Deployed

Zambia now operates the largest fleet of battery-electric mining trucks outside China. As of November 2025, 528 units from SANY, XCMG and Xuangong are in service across the Copperbelt — with another 400 scheduled for 2026.

First Quantum’s Kansanshi and Sentinel mines run 112 electric trucks powered by a 120 MW solar + battery storage plant. CNMC’s Chambishi and NFCA’s Baluba and Luanshya mines collectively operate 186 units.

Each truck eliminates approximately 600,000 litres of diesel per year. Zambia’s new Mining ESG Regulation 2025 mandates 30% zero-emission haulage by 2030 — a target only achievable with Chinese technology at current pricing.

SANY’s Kitwe assembly plant began CKD production in September 2025, creating 800 local jobs and reducing delivery times from 6 months to 8 weeks.

From Morocco to Mozambique: China’s New Energy Trucks Reshape African Infrastructure

By African Development Magazine, Cape Town, November 19, 2025

The trend is continent-wide. Morocco’s OCP phosphate mines operate 96 BYD electric trucks; Botswana’s Orapa diamond mine runs 42 SANY units; Mozambique’s Temane gas project uses 68 Dongfeng electric support vehicles.

The African Development Bank’s $1.2 billion Green Mobility Facility, launched in 2024, has approved financing for 11 electric truck projects totaling 1,800 vehicles — 97% Chinese brands.

Chinese manufacturers have established 28 assembly/training centers across Africa in 2025. Total Chinese electric heavy-duty truck exports to Africa surpassed 4,200 units in the first 10 months — up 312% year-on-year.

By 2035, BloombergNEF forecasts that 42% of new heavy truck sales in Africa will be electric — almost entirely supplied by Chinese manufacturers.
